About the Project:
Ever since I was a kid, I've dreamed of making movies. Now, in just 12 months, I’ll be stepping on set to direct my first feature film. This is my life's work. Every single step has led me here, to this moment.
This film is a ghost story, but unlike the ones audiences have seen before. It is an ode to parenthood, and a meditation on memory, impermanence, and the quiet beauty of survival. It's about losing a loved one, and finding meaning in the wake of that absence.
I wrote the screenplay with my wife in the months leading up to the birth of our daughter, Kiyomi. That moment in our lives—full of both hope and fragility—shaped the film in every way. Parenthood changed how I see the world; it gave my life meaning. The film reflects that shift: a desire to create something that will outlast me, to leave a trace that honors not only my own story, but also the stories of those who came before and those who will come after.
